Income Tax Accountant

We're looking for an Income Tax Accountant at our Corporate Office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana who will be responsible for participating in tax projects and other related activities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns and clearly document all tax work for review by others
  • Thorough and accurately analyze information and prepare practical and creative solutions to company tax situations
  • Participate and contribute to the attainment of group goals
  • Effectively apply tax knowledge to internal client situations
  • Prepare book to tax differences for SEC reporting
  • Timely respond to federal, state, and city audits and notices
  • Completion of other accounting or tax related tasks as requested by manager

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements
  • Able to assess a situation, gather more information if necessary, and identify issues to be addressed
  • Able to discuss moderately complex tax issues with the project team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word
  • Willing and able to learn a variety of in-house software applications, such as OneSource tax software
  • Effective listener, writer, and speaker
  • Manage multiple assignments, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions
  • Plan and organize tasks within an allotted time frame
  • Work with others in a professional manner

Education and Experience Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or another business-related field is required
  • 1 to 3 years of experience working in the tax department of a public accounting firm or the equivalent experience in business/industry is preferred
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • The primary work environment is an office.
  • The physical demands for this position include light lifting, seeing (with a focus on reading), sitting more than 50% of the time, talking, and walking.
  • Nights spent traveling, away from home, are less than 10%.
